The Bush Road Track sets off from the Crater Rim Walkway. On the Summit Road, locate the twin car parks at the end of the Kennedy's Bush Track, between the Sign of the Bellbird and Hoon Hay Reserve. From the car park on the harbour side, follow the Crater Rim Walkway a couple minutes north to the signposted track start.
The track leads off through a stand of harakeke before dropping down a spur and into forest. This section of track is narrow and steep.
