Ruapae Falls are in the headwaters of the Magatainoka River near Eketahuna. The falls can be reached by following the Mangatainoka River from the top swingbridge on the Roaring Stag track. Allow about 2 to 3 hrs from the road end. The section of river from the bridge to the top forks is very bouldery and has a few large log jams. After the top forks it becomes very open with Toitoi flats until 15 minutes before the falls. There is an awkward little waterfall and pool which can be passed on the true right 5 min before the main falls.
