Abel Tasman National Park

In many ways, the track that explores the golden shoreline of this coastal park and the park itself have become synonymous. When people say "Abel Tasman," they invariably mean both the park, New Zealand's smallest, and the track, New Zealand's most popular. So it is ironic that the foreshore along which most of the Coastal Track passes has only recently (1998) been added to the park.

There's more to Abel Tasman than this track, however. Inland is a karst environment crossed by another track, and featuring the spectacular Harwood's Hole — the largest drop shaft in the Southern Hemisphere.
