Haurangi Hut
Rimutaka Forest Park
A "bush cabin" - book at the ranger's station at the entrance to the park. Head upriver from the end of the Orongorongo Track for about 40 minutes on either the Big Bend track (all weathers) or in the riverbed. The track passes right by the signposted path that climbs steeply up to the river terrace on which the hut sits. The riverbed is quicker but you have to know where to leave it for the hut.
