The Motu river a few km below Mangakirikiri Hut. Deep, and wide. But beautiful. Part of the east-west Raukumara crossing, or worth a visit in its own right. Most frequently visited by raft.

Crossings in the Mangakirikiri - Big Unknown section are waist deep or worse in low-normal flows. A couple turned into swims.
