  • Wrong forum..........again......! I've yet to find Kathmandu on a map of NZ.......strange that...!
  • There's one on Wills st in Wellington. Saw a couple of orange-robed Buddhist monks outside it the other day - wearing Kathmandu beanies.
  • It's not exactly off topic though is it norm? I mean this is a site for adventurous outdoors types and trekking in Nepal might be quite interesting to some here... If you don't like the post then don't click on it and don't waste your time commenting on it... easy.
  • Try reading my posts then you wouldn't waste your time writing yours perhaps......!
  • But who cares if it's in the 'wrong forum' - that's my point.
  • The same person's now posted near-identical ads at least 10 times, although it might not be clear because they're sometimes flagged before others get to see them. That's annoying spam in my book because it clutters and hides other conversation. I'm not sure of the value of responding to them rather than just flagging them, because I don't think the poster checks or cares and all it does is create new sideways threads like this one.

  • This is a forum about tramping in NZ. I went to Europe last year for 4 months and amoung other things went tramping in the Swiss Alps and in Italy. I havn't posted any photos or described anything about it on here though as I didn't think it was relavent. Perhaps this forum needs a "Tramping Elsewhere in the World" section? Or perhaps it doesn't and those who want to discuss walking in Nepal should visit a forum catered for that topic?
  • That's my point too..........it's not a case of ignore them and they'll go away (I wish they would), they won't, nor is it simply flag them and they won't bother posting any more....they do. Whilst I agree that "perhaps" there's room for another forum on overseas tramps, the culprit in this case continues to post in the wrong forum anyway....which has been pointed out to him/her or machine, but makes no difference. So, if you are quite happy to see this site taken over (an over exageration perhaps, but nevertheless a possibility if nothing is done) by ads from all and sundry, selling everything from escorted treks in the Himalayas to sex tours in the Philipines, then so be it.........do nothing, but personally speaking (and afterall thats what each of us do here...speak for ourselves), I would rather see action taken against the spammers rather than bury my head in the proverbial sand and pretend they don't exist.
  • lol trampers are funny.
  • I missed the original posts but they do raise an interesting point. If they were spam or any type of blatant advertising then they have been treated correctly and none of us want to know. If someone wants to go treking or whatever overseas then there are many resources on the net to find out how. However this site is for tramping in NZ and trampers in NZ who might want to travel. I have no problem with a trip report from Nepal or even a question about how to be sure to get a good guide.
