This photo shows the turnoff to Mid Styx hut as described below.

Easiest access to Mid Styx hut is the Styx TR track and to ford near stoat trap 67. There is a small cairn, some permolat & pink tape on the track marking where to drop to the river. This ford takes you directly to the start of the track to Mid Styx hut which is marked with a large orange triangle facing the river. The ford marked by the wooden sign which is further upstream is sometimes a bit easier but that route takes nearly 10 minutes longer if coming from down valley. At the moment the ford near stoat trap 67 is better than the one on the route indicated by the routered wooden sign but that is not always the case.

Mid Styx hut and tracks to it from the main valley track & the tops are maintained by volunteers. Permolat group members have done maintenance work on the up valley routes to Mid Styx hut already this year & work on the other tracks is in progress.
