This photo was taken after emerging from the gorge. It was nice to see some sun after having been in the dank gorge where the frost frost hadn't thawed for days and where there was a moderate amount of snow damaged vegetation to negotiate.

Middle right in the photo is where Makarora Hut is situated. The map pointer shows the hut site.
