Honora You can cook in them once they get a good lot of embers of course...You need to leave the door open a bit.
Another beauty is the Little Cracker in Mt Brown hut above Lake Kaniere.

madpom Sadly DOC are in the process of replacing all of these in the Ruahines with box-standard, cannot cook easily on top of, woodburners. Shame!
