Freeman Burn Hut
Fiordland National Park
A hut at the head of North Arm, Lake Manapouri, accessible by boat.
During the 1920s, Les Murrell ran the Doubtful Sound Track over Wilmot Pass. He planned to extend this into a circuit, with a boat journey to Gaer Arm, then a walk up the Camelot River, over Fowler Pass, then down the Freeman Burn. The circuit was never successful, and was abandoned around wartime.
Huts were located at West Arm (West Arm Hut), Bedivere Falls (Camelot Hut), Lake Minerva, and Freeman Burn. Only the Freeman Burn Hut remains.
