Crystal Biv 2 person shelter

  • Andrew Barker Andrew Barker There are sort of 2 stretchers. One has a rip, and the leggless other one is covering the first. What is actually needed here is another 2 stretchers. But it's OK if only one person is stopping over. The hut book here goes back to 1984. I hold the envious record of having having had the longest stays!!! 3 nights in July 10 and 2 nights in December 08. Cheers

  • Andrew Barker Andrew Barker I didn't get a chance to do the bit above Yeats. I haven't heard that anyone else has either! Looking from Mullins track on the otherside of the valley, it doesn't look like it would be a big job though?

  • Honora Honora Has it still got the 2 camp stretchers? They were pretty cool. Thanks, Andrew, for your great track work and chucking all those nasty slippery bits of cut stuff off the track. Hope someone has cut and marked the short route up through the scrub from Yeats Hut to Crystal Biv.

  • Andrew Barker Andrew Barker It's one of my favorates, though rather cool at the moment. The good thing about it's size is that the top half heats up quickly when you light the stove!

  • madpom madpom Thought the name rang a bell. Remember that one - it was a very small white dot from the Zit Saddle to Toaroha Saddle ridgeline! Great that these small remote high-altitude biv's have survived the cull.
