Penn Creek Hut
Tararua Forest Park
A standard NZFS hut from the Seventies, has had some recent work done on it.
Add in Field Hut and you can get an interesting loop track that is not frequently used.
Can confirm DOC has had a potbelly stove fitted at Penn Creek.

Getting there

From Otaki Gorge. The Penn Creek Track starts where the main Otaki Track to Waitewaewae Hut crosses the Otaki. The track has slip warnings on it and is not recommended. From Field Hut you can drop down from the north side of the track to Kime hut. |
