Grassy flats on the Lawrence Valley. The valley floor is grazed by cattle as far up as Hermitage Hut. The 4WD track comes and goes, but is reasonably consistent from Erewhon Downs station to DOC's Lawrence Hut and the private Hermitage Hut - above which there's just a route up the river flats to Lawrence Biv. Easy walking all the way, if you like river-stones!
