From the summit of Porter's Pass, climb the hillside to the north. There are numerous vague tracks near the bottom. Keep to the right, along the ridge, and eventually a clear track forms, winding through the scree. Two thirds of the way up, a false summit is reached. It's another 30 minutes or more to the top.
From the top are views along the the Torlesse Range, with Castle Hill Peak being a popular continuation. West is the Porter Heights skifield, and southwest is Lake Lyndon.
The climb up is about 1.5 to 2.5 hours, while the return is about 30 minutes to 1 hour.
