Hunts Creek Hut

A small hut handsomely located at the edge of a tussock clearing on Hunts Creek, west of Otira.

Hunts Creek takes its name from Albert William Hunt, the notorious hoaxer of the Westland goldfields. He kicked off the 1864 gold rush on the Greenstone River after Haimona Tuakau led him to a deposit of gold under a pounamu boulder.
